Direction

Published by Greg under Parenting

This blog has had very little direction in both its previous and current versions. What I wanted it to be and what it was were completely different things.

Seth Godin discussed the difference between a personal blog and a blog about the readers…reflection indicates that too often this blog has been a personal blog.

Unfortunately, that was not the goal for this blog when I started it. I want to be a blog that you visit because it is entertaining and you can take something away from it every day (like Godin, Fred Wilson or Guy Kawasaki).

Ideally, I want you to learn about what a parent should be doing not what a great parent I am. I would hope Evelyn could read this one day and learn about parenting from her father: all the ups and downs that it brings, how I handled them and how I would have handled them better. Or what I needed to do to catch up on my career, after getting by on my intelligence through most of high school and university and what I have learned.

So the synopsis of this blog will now read: Learnings in fatherhood, career and life.

Baby Thoughts

Published by Greg under Parenting

Thoughts and changes in life brought on by Little Miss Evelyn:

I’ve met someone that makes me feel seasick…

Smiles are priceless. I can’t wait for laughter.

Soothers are a dad’s best.

11:30 is very, very late.

6:00 am is no longer early.

Invites are for Evelyn….we are optional.

Lights are AMAZING!

Cuddle time is the best time.

This Week In Parenting…

Published by Greg under Parenting

Some disjointed thoughts from a sleepless, incredible first week as a parent:

Puppy love is not something reserved for your first love.

The redefinition of compromise - who will let the other one sleep.

pooping is now cute and only mildly disgusting.

It is a dead heat between the Dog and I as to who is lower on the totem pole…Neither of us like it very much.

Waiting to find out if it is a boy or girl is worth it.

Texting while your wife is contracting is VERY dangerous work.

Natural childbirth is an incredible phenomenon.

Responsibility has taken on a whole new meaning.

We have an incredible support system from Australia to Zach.

My daughter can do no wrong….this could be trouble.

The World As I Know It…

Published by Greg under Parenting

is about to change. Dramatically.

Tomorrow is our due date and I will be a father soon.

Responsible for the life of someone other then my own. As in with responsibility.

I am excited, overwhelmed and scared. Why isn’t there a manual?

I’ve never wanted to be so good at something in my life.

Failure is not an option but it must be taught.

I can not wait for this adventure to start.
